The Department

The Department for Pediatric Nephrology of the University Children’s Hospital Marburg is a Center of Excellence providing comprehensive care for newborns, children and adolescents with acute or chronic renal disease. We provide all treatment options for end-stage renal disease including hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and kidney transplantation.

Our clinical therapeutic strategy is multidisciplinary, involving prenatal diagnosis, perinatal intensive care and pediatric, urology and transplant surgery. Our scientific focus is laid on rare and/or genetic disorders of the kidneys with a longstanding tradition in tubular disorders (Bartter syndrome, Gitelman syndrome, hypomagnesemia and others).  We have a strong interest in collaborative scientific approaches and participate in many international cohort studies, including the ESCAPE Trial Group.
