Zainab Arslan

Dr. Zainab Arslan is a Consultant Paediatric Nephrologist at Great Ormond Street Hospital and an Honorary Lecturer at UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health. In her clinical practice, she manages children with chronic kidney disease (CKD), nephrotic syndrome, and those undergoing kidney transplantation. She holds a postgraduate degree in Genomic Medicine, which supports her translational approach to patient care and research.

Her research focuses on kidney genomics, the long-term outcomes of children with kidney disease, and the mechanisms leading to failing kidney allografts. Dr. Arslan is actively involved in national and international collaborations, integrating genomic insights into clinical care and contributing to evidence-based guidelines for pediatric nephrology.

She serves on several expert committees and working groups, including as a board member of the ESPN CKD-MBD Working Group, Gene Curation Expert Panel (GCEP) member for CAKUT within ClinGen, chair of Clinical Services Leads for BAPN, and member of the Paediatric Renal CRG. Through these roles, she contributes to guideline development, educational initiatives, and collaborative research in rare kidney diseases across Europe.
