Peter Bárány

Dr. Peter Bárány is Senior Physician in the Pediatric and Adult Nephrology Units at Karolinska University Hospital, Stockholm, Sweden, and Associate Professor (Docent) of Nephrology in the Department of Clinical Science, Intervention and Technology (CLINTEC) at Karolinska Institutet.


His research focuses on large‑scale clinical and epidemiological studies of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in both children and adults, exploring long‑term outcomes, renal replacement therapies, and cardiovascular comorbidity in CKD.


He is a lead investigator in the Renal Biopsy Cohort at the Karolinska Kidney Research Center (KaroKidney) and has authored over 200 original articles and approximately 25 reviews/book chapters. 


Dr. Bárány also contributes to the European rare kidney disease domain via his role in regional expert teams within the European Reference Network for Rare Kidney Diseases (ERKNet).
