Liane Costa
Liane Correia Costa is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Instituto de Ciência Biomédicas de Abel Salazar, University of Porto, since 2016, and was a Professor of Pediatrics at Faculty of Medicine of University of Porto, from 2010 to 2016.
She obtained her MD degree in the Faculty of Medicine of University of Porto and concluded her PhD degree in Clinical and Health Services Research, Faculty of Medicine of University of Porto with the thesis "Childhood obesity-related inflammation and vascular injury – impact on the kidney" in 2015.
Liane Correia Costa is a Pediatric assistant and a Pediatric Nephrology fellow at Centro Materno-Infantil do Norte, Centro Hospitalar e Universitário do Porto, since 2016.
She is the coordinator of the Training and Research Unit at Centro Materno-Infantil do Norte, Centro Hospitalar e Universitário do Porto and is a post-doctoral researcher at Instituto de Saúde Pública da Universidade do Porto, with research interests in obesity-related kidney injury, cardiovascular risk and chronic kidney disease in childhood and perinatal and pediatric epidemiology.
She has been invited as a Member of the Comission of Health Technology Assessment of INFARMED - National Authority of Medicines and Health Products, I.P. in 2017. She is also member of the Board of the Portuguese Society of Pediatrics, since 2016 and is associated Editor of Porto Biomedical Journal and of Portuguese Journal of Pediatrics. She currently supervises 3 Master students in Medicine and 3 PhD students.
Liane Correia Costa has published more than 30 peer-reviewed papers in international and national journals and book chapters, being invited as speaker and session chairman in numerous national and international meetings
She has received numerous national and internacional awards, namely the European grant of the French Pediatric Nephrology Society in 2013, the Excellence in Paediatrics 2013 Award - Best abstracts’ oral presentation and the prestigious national award Banco Carregosa/Ordem dos Médicos (Portuguese Medical Regulatory Authority) for clinical research in 2016.
