Francesca Lugani

Dr. Francesca Lugani is a pediatrician and senior physician in the Division of Nephrology at IRCCS G. Gaslini Hospital in Genoa, Italy. She obtained her medical degree from the University of Genoa in 2003 and completed her residency in Pediatrics at the same university in 2008. In 2012, she earned her Ph.D. in Genetics from the University of Genoa.

Dr. Lugani spent four years as a Post –Doc research fellow at Columbia University in Dr. Ali Gharavi’s lab focusing on genetics of kidney diseases.

Dr. Lugani has served as principal investigator for several national and international research initiatives. Since 2015, she has also been actively involved in the ESCAPE consortium.

Her primary research interests focus on genetic mechanisms underlying renal diseases in children, integrating clinical and molecular approaches to improve diagnosis and treatment.
