
Francesca Mencarelli
Dr. Francesca Mencarelli is a paediatric nephrologist with a special interest in children with CKD, peritoneal dialysis, and transplantation.
She has been a consultant at the Pediatrics Department at S.Orsola-Malpighi Hospital since 2011.
Qualifications and training
Francesca completed her medical degree at Bologna University, Italy in 2002, followed by her specialist training in pediatrics in 2008. She completed her specialist training in pediatric nephrology at the Renal Unit at Bambino Gesù Hospital in Rome (2006 and 2008), and did a Clinical Fellowship (ST4-8 equivalent) in pediatric nephrology at the Renal Unit at GOSH, London (2010). In 2012, she obtained her PhD in Pediatric Medicine from Bologna University.

Clinical and Research interests
Francesca ’s current clinical and research activities involve CKD, with particular focus on growth and cardiovascular disease.
Sheis a reviewer for Pediatric Nephrology.
She is involved in teaching for the School of Specialization in Pediatrics and Nephrology at Bologna University.
She is the principal investigator in Bologna for the 4C study and EurAKid. She is also the Italian coordinator for the 4C follow-up study.
